Northwood Little League is an All-Volunteer organization that cannot provide Little League programs to our kids without the generous donation of time and effort from each one of us. Volunteering can be as simple as bringing snacks and refreshments to a game, or as involved as helping coach, umpire, or manage a game. Big or small, there's always something that you can do that will be greatly appreciated by someone.
There are many changes for 2015 and Northwood will need more volunteers thanever before! We know that everyone has a "Full Plate" but will you consider helping in one of the capacities mentioned here.....??
Please be generous with your time. Remember...it's about the kids!
Manager - A role-model who inspires, teaches, develops, and motivates the players on the team. The Manager is responsible for organizing practices, pre-game preparation, and game-time strategy. The Manager at all times shall conduct himself in accordance with the requirements of Little League rules and policies and shall set and communicate appropriate standards of behavior, attitude, and demeanor for players, coaches, parents, and fans.
Coach – Also a role-model who assists the manager during both practices and games helping with instruction, strategy, and team management. Maximum 2 per team.
Practice Coach –Assists the manager during practice by providing skills development at discretion and direction of the Manager. This can include 'managing' the dugout for almost all divisions. A Practice Coach also helps coordinate the batting orders and keeps batters moving through the order in a timely and efficient manner.
Umpire - Acts as an official judge and rules arbiter during the play of a game.
Team Parent- Liaison between the Manager and other parents on all team matters of the team and who works to assure that other parents contribute volunteer effort as might be needed. Every team will have a Team Parent and can use the help of all parents through out the year.
Concessions– Every parent will be required to donate a couple hours during their designated time period for their child's team. We encourage everyone to consider donating time to the Concession area as time permits. This can be a great time to get to know other parents from your team and make new friends from around the league while working.
Field Crew- Northwood Little League will hold a few days throughout the season to clean up the park and prepare the fields for play.
Scorekeeper & Scoreboard Operator - Record team statistics in the official score book. Keep track of Innings, Score, Outs, and pitch counts. THE HOME TEAM WILL BE REQUIRED TO HAVE AN OFFICAL SCOREKEEPER AND A SCOREBOARD OPERATOR THAT ARE NOT THE SAME PERSON!
As Needed: Will Volunteer in any capacity that the League deems necessary.
